Hair

Treatments for thinning and baldness.

A holistic, multi-therapeutic approach — medically safe, free of side effects, and aimed at stopping thinning, thickening existing hair and regrowing lost hair.

Hair loss affects millions of men and women, and more and more people are looking for a safe, lasting solution. Millennium Clinic’s Hair and Scalp Treatment Programs take a holistic, multi-therapeutic approach to solving hair loss in order to achieve the best possible result.

We do not advise self-medicating. Not all hair loss conditions are the same — our experts analyse your particular problem and advise the treatment most likely to restore your natural appearance and self-confidence.

Laser hair therapy in the clinic

Treatment programs

Programs run from 6 to 12 months, with 15–25 minute appointments once or twice a week at our Pitt Street clinic. Non-surgical options include:

  • In-clinic “Stimu-Lase” program — clinical-grade laser therapy plus hair repair products and formulae
  • Topical DHT and PGD2 enzyme blockers, vasodilators and photobiomodulation
  • Tricho-roller dermal stimulation combined with formulae and Stimu-Lase
  • Tailored hair loss treatments for women
  • Alopecia treatments

What is laser hair treatment?

Laser hair therapy is a non-surgical, scientific approach to treating hair loss and scalp problems. Clinical-grade lasers have been medically tested and proven safe and effective. Used regularly, laser stimulation strengthens and regenerates the hair roots, slowing, arresting and in some cases reversing the degenerative cycle. It also:

  • Repairs and improves hair shaft quality
  • Relieves irritating scalp conditions
  • Increases hair strength and elasticity
  • Bonds and locks in conditioners for enhanced results
  • Repairs damage caused by chemicals, colouring and perms

Cold laser therapy — photobiomodulation — uses non-thermal photons of light that cells convert into chemical energy, stimulating new hair cell formation and increasing blood circulation in the capillaries of the scalp. Existing hairs grow thicker as an added benefit. The technology is recognised by the FDA and approved for cosmetic use in many countries. Because the energy is non-thermal it cannot burn your skin, and it emits no UV.

Patience is required: the first evidence of new growth typically appears around the sixth or seventh session, with full results taking six to twelve months. Therapy must be continued to maintain results — a small price for a good head of healthy hair.

Hand-held laser device or high-frequency unit

If a 6 or 12-month in-clinic program is not practical — or you live too far from the clinic — we supply hand-held laser and high-frequency devices for safe home use, together with our hair repair products and DHT-blocking formulae. We also recommend a hand-held laser at home after an in-clinic program to maintain results.

In-clinic treatment vs hand-held devices

  • Regular in-clinic examinations let our consultants monitor progress closely and adjust your program
  • In-clinic “Stimu-Lase” uses a far more powerful professional-grade laser hood — an intensive 15–25 minute session for the whole scalp
  • All formulae and products are included; you sit back while the lasers do the work

Hair loss treatment for women

The challenges of hair replacement for women are different to men’s — and socially, often far more traumatic. We provide stylish, undetectable non-surgical solutions that address the special needs of women experiencing hair loss, alongside our exclusive range of sulphate-free hair repair products that are gentle on hair and scalp.

Alopecia treatment

Alopecia occurs when the immune system attacks the hair follicles. Although it most often afflicts people under 20, all ages can be affected. If you are seeking effective treatment for an alopecia condition, you have come to the right place.

Hair transplant surgery

Electing hair transplant surgery is a major decision — but the results last a lifetime. To be a good candidate you must have sufficient donor hair at the back and sides of the head. Our board-certified surgeons move donor hair to the areas of loss; techniques have vastly improved in recent years and our patients achieve excellent results.

Transplant surgery does not solve every hair loss problem. Book an examination and consultation at our Pitt Street clinic to see whether surgical intervention is the right approach for your case.
